I came across a Facebook post made by Mariacarmela Ribecco about the murder of Du'a Khalil Aswad. She wrote this poem as a mark of respect and rememberance of Du'a:
They whisper some words on the other side of the wall,
her hands shake for a sacrificed love
and behind a door, hidden, suffering originates.
The crowd drags her under the spotlights,
her hair is loose on her shoulders,
and her face looks stunned, at the mercy of a foolish reason.
Like a doll she gets thrown to the ground,
her face tortured by rage

and time slowly leads to the same fate.
The tiring breath, a lying body,

With amazing understatement, one of Murray's Democratic colleagues in the state senate told The Seattle Times in 1992: "She just doesn't strike you as somebody who's been reading The New York Times every day for the past five years." I wonder when Katie Couric is going to ask Murray what newspapers she reads.
After Murray was elected to the U.S. Senate, the Democrats tried to keep her locked in her office to prevent her from saying anything that might end up in a newspaper. But in the confusion after the 9/11 attack, the leadership must have lost the keys and Murray escaped to say this about Osama bin Laden:
"He's been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful. He's made their lives better."
Yes, Osama was out building “day-care facilities” — and probably sponsoring “Bring Your Daughter to Work” days! I defy anyone to produce something stupider ever uttered by a homo sapiens. Not Barbara Boxer, Joe Biden or even John Edwards can hold their dimly lit candles to her.
Murray, whose college major was “recreation,” got her start in politics fighting to save her own useless government job.
The laughably apocryphal story she tells is that she was told by some crusty old male politician — still unnamed decades later: “You’re just a mom in tennis shoes — you can’t make a difference!” (You know how politicians love gratuitously insulting their constituents.)
This stuck in Murray’s craw and so, filled with righteous anger, she ran for state office and won as a “mom in tennis shoes.”
The real story is that Murray was teaching a “parenting” class at a community college, which no one was taking, so the state decided to cut it. Murray’s reaction was, “Wait — I’m a public employee! You have no right to fire me!”
She wasn’t a parent upset that her child’s school was dropping an art history class. She was a deadbeat public employee who didn’t want her job cut. No one was taking her course, but she thought taxpayers should be required to pay her salary anyway.
Fighting to keep your own cushy job isn’t a point of principle; it’s evidence of a narcissistic personality disorder.
But you have to do a lot of research to find out that the class being eliminated was Murray’s own. This deliberate policy on the part of the press to hide Murray’s utterly self-serving motive for saving the class proves they know this is a problem for her.
The media’s admiration for Murray’s tenacious political start is like applauding the pluck of a stalker: “That guy sure has moxie and determination!” You’re not supposed to be canonized for fighting to keep your own job.
Murray is the equivalent of a Wall Street fat-cat saying, “I’m going to fight for my $50 million severance package because it’s the right thing to do!”
This remarkably unimpressive woman has tried to turn being a flat-footed dork into an advantage by selling herself as a tribune of regular folks. Yes, like most regular folk, she listed no religious affiliation whatsoever in the first few editions of the Congressional Almanac. (She probably couldn’t remember she was supposed to say “Catholic.”)
Soon after being elected to the Senate in 1992, Murray fought for a federal government jobs program by saying, “The highest-paying job I had before coming to Washington, D.C., paid $23,000 a year. … I know what it’s like to tell my kids they can’t buy everything they want.”
Is that what Murray thinks a senator should be doing? Ensuring that parents can tell their children they can buy everything they want?
True, Murray is a mom. You could also describe Hitler as a “war veteran and painter,” but I think the more salient fact is that he was a German dictator.
Similarly, Murray’s relevant characteristic is that she is a lifelong public-sector union zealot.
Again, Murray’s class was on “parenting” — the very definition of a pointless government program. Imagine going back in a time machine and trying to explain to someone from 1950 why the government was paying for classes on “parenting.” How about classes on “waking up” or “getting dressed”?
Democrats have completely infantilized the populace in order to create jobs for useless social workers like Murray — and then people wonder why states are going bankrupt under crushing debt burdens.
But I guess we have to fund these idiotic programs in order not to be outshone by Osama’s “Partnership With Working Mothers Initiative” in Peshawar.

The radical members of MEChA who refer to themselves as "Mechistas," romanticize Mexican claims to the "lost Territories" of the Southwestern United States -- a Chicano country called Aztlan. Understanding Liberal Disillusionment – Part 1

The idea that Judeo-Christian religious morality is the basis of a just society is a foundational concept in the creation of the United States. This once pervasive concept has now fallen from favor within certain loud segments of society regardless of the high esteem in which it was held by the universality of our Founders. Rejection of the religion-based worldview of the Founders is the core around which liberal anger is constructed.
Where matters of morality, religion, history, and ethics are concerned in the United States today, there is now no “middle.” Among people of good will and reasonable intellect there is a fundamental disagreement not about the nature of morality and ethics, but rather about their value and provenance. One side defends the importance of morality and its origins in religion; the other takes an evangelical, rejectionist position.
Our Founders credited the future success of the United States on God’s guidance, adherence to Judeo-Christian religion, and to Christian religion-based morality. The historical record of our foundational documents and the private papers of our Revolutionary leaders show this to be true.
It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue.
And
[W]e have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. (source)

Such an overtly inaccurate position surpasses simple denial, though without the usual blather of convolutions and bloviating – it’s merely a lie.

Even Jefferson, the noted populist and “Deist”, credited God for the wisdom that guided the Founders during the American Revolution. Jefferson concluded his first inaugural address with the following request to the American people and to God.
Relying then on the patronage of your good will (ed. the people), I advance with obedience to the work, ready to retire from it whenever you become sensible how much better choices it is in your power to make: and may that infinite power which rules the destinies of the universe, lead our councils to what is best, & give them a favorable issue for your peace and prosperity. Jefferson concluded his second inaugural address with similar themes:

A cursory review of the lives of the Founders, their public utterances, and personal and private papers shows a deep link between them, their belief in God and the divine source of morality and its derivation from Judeo-Christian religious principles, doctrine, and tradition. Few public officials today outside of the religious sphere (almost all on the right) discuss morality, its roots in religion, and the importance of Christian and Jewish thought to the foundations of the country. When they do speak in public of such things, they are excoriated for doing so by those on the Progressive Left and also by many others who ought to know better.
A case in point is the vitriol directed at former Governor Sarah Palin and Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell. Both are conservative politicians who speak about morality and link Bible-based morality with public policy.
The rejection of morality in politics by the American Left is nothing less than an ongoing denial of the religious origins of our country and our national character. Many on the Progressive Left have embraced a post-modernist worldview.
Post-modernism posits a radical equivalence that views all religions and all cultures as equal. This concept of radical equivalence is also the foundation of multiculturalism. The deconstruction then of the Founders’ faith, its importance in the development of the country and of its continued value is necessary to support post-modernism and multiculturalism’s worldview and utopian goals.
A central problem to the advancement of the post-modernist view is the origin of American law and morality in Judeo-Christian religion, and our understanding of the central dichotomies around which such laws are built: good/evil, right/wrong, just/unjust, etc. The rejection of the morality of the Founders and the support today for Islam (our Founders did not at all support it ) among American leftists is illustrative.
Islam does not view these essential dichotomies upon which our laws are based in the same way that Americans do. Regardless, the Left views Islam as a fellow-traveler in the deconstruction of American institutions and has therefore allied itself with Islam and Islamists.
The same approach was taken by Iranian leftists prior to the 1979 Islamist Revolution. After the Shah was overthrown leftists there unpleasantly discovered that their views were not at all compatible with totalitarian Islam.
It is difficult to comprehend the cooperative relationship between far left (American Progressives) and extremist totalitarian forces (Islamists) especially when history shows that such relationships can only be temporary. Alliances of convenience between political opposites are usually short-lived and end …poorly. The Iranian leftists learned this lesson. The idea that Judeo-Christian religious morality is the basis of a just society is a foundational concept in the creation of the United States. This once pervasive concept has now fallen from favor within certain loud segments of society regardless of the high esteem in which it was held by the universality of our Founders. Rejection of the religion-based worldview of the Founders is the core around which liberal anger is constructed.
Where matters of morality, religion, history, and ethics are concerned in the United States today, there is now no “middle.” Among people of good will and reasonable intellect there is a fundamental disagreement not about the nature of morality and ethics, but rather about their value and provenance. One side defends the importance of morality and its origins in religion; the other takes an evangelical, rejectionist position.
Our Founders credited the future success of the United States on God’s guidance, adherence to Judeo-Christian religion, and to Christian religion-based morality. The historical record of our foundational documents and the private papers of our Revolutionary leaders show this to be true.
It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue.
And
[W]e have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. (source)

This is an extremely hot issue in India. The high court there is going to be ruling on whether a sacred temple site belongs to the Hindus or muslims.The Hindus should get this temple and the muslims should leave India as far as I am concerned. Either way this goes down, violence will be the result at the end of the day. The Hindus have been persecuted for hundreds of years by the muslims. The spread of islam is never peaceful. Thousands of paramilitary and riot police have been deployed in India as the country braces for violence over a High Court ruling on whether an ancient religious site belongs to Muslims or Hindus.
The ruling will bring a legal settlement to the property dispute which spans more than 60 years of Indian independence and caused riots throughout India in 1992 when extremists destroyed the site's 16th Century Babri Mosque to build a temple to the Hindu God Ram. More than 2,000 were killed in the violence which spread throughout India.
The government banned bulk text message sending to stop militant groups spreading false information and inciting violence amid fears the clashes could be repeated following today's (THURS) High Court decision ahead of the opening of the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.
The Supreme Court rejected an appeal by a former senior official on Tuesday to delay the verdict until after the Commonwealth Games.
Manmohan Singh, the Indian prime minister, yesterday published a direct appeal in all popular newspapers, pleading with Hindus and Muslims to respect the court's verdict and challenge it through legal channels if they cannot accept it.
"It goes without saying that the judgment needs to be treated with the utmost respect. At the same time, we must remember the fact that the judgment, at this stage, is just one step in the judicial process. The determination of the issues need not necessarily end with this judgement unless it is accepted by all parties," he said.
"It is necessary for all sections of the people of India to maintain equanimity and tranquillity in the aftermath of the judgment. There should be no attempt by any section of the people to provoke any other section or to indulge in any expression of emotion that would hurt the feelings of other people."
Mr Singh pleaded for Indian tradition of respect for all religions be observed and warned that any could harm the country's rapid economic growth.
His appeal however heightened anxiety over the possibility of violence along with firm security measures. In Ayodya itself, in the heart of India's most populous state, police were issued with riot gear, including rubber bullets and tear gas, to quell any violence. Helicopters have been put on standby.
Twenty companies of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force have been drafted to protect the site itself, while 44 districts in the state have been declared as either sensitive or 'hypersensitive.'
The dispute focuses on who owns the site in Ayodhya - 83 miles from the state capital Lucknow - Muslims who have worshipped at the Babri Masjid since its construction in the 16th Century, or Hindus who believe it is the site of an ancient temple to their God, Ram. The property title has been held by the Sunni Central Waqf Board, which protects historic Muslim buildings and land.
In 1992, an estimated 150,000 Hindu fundamentalists, led by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including L.K Advani, converged on the Babri Masjid site where many destroyed the mosque. In the riots which followed in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad more than 2000 were killed. Ten years later, the dispute claimed fresh victims when Muslims attacked and killed 58 Hindu passengers on a train rumoured to be returning from Ayodhya. The massacre sparked riots throughout Gujarat ion which an estimated 1000 are believed to have died.
Leading commentator M.J Akbar, who reported the riots at the time, said he believed Indians had matured since 1992 and would not allow communal feelings threaten the country's growth.
"I think we're going to surprise everyone and shock ourselves by actually keeping the peace. This time around, after 18 years, we're going to show we can handle it through the Supreme Court. Not because we've become Gandhians but because people have realised violence is suicide. Whatever people want, it's not violence," he said.

Monument to Evgeny Rodionov, a soldier who perished in Chechen Republic in the 1990s has been set up in his native town of Kuznetsk in Penza Region.
Private Rodionov was killed by Chechen militants, when kept a prisoner in Chechnya, on May, 23rd, 1996. He was decapitated for refusal to take off the underwear cross he was wearing and accept Islam.
"The monument depicts a bronze candle with its flame embracing a soldier who is holding a cross", - the report reads. The monument will be unveiled near the school, where Evgeny Rodionov studied.
The author of the monument is the Ukrainian sculptor Sergey Mardar.
