Environazis call to use Gulf oil spill to force cap and gouge on us, and more.

The Environazis are trying really hard not to let the Gulf oil spill disaster go to waste. These tree huggers, earth muffins and prairie fairies are out to demand that politicians work together, drop their differences to pass Cap and gouge , I mean trade. Just what we all need, much higher energy prices, crippling taxes on us and the companies that provide JOBS to Americans. Destruction of the coal and oil industry while new technologies sputter and fume into use, unable to meet the demands of this country for it's energy requirements.

This from that far left publication that is not fit to wrap fish in or for use in the outhouse had to say, The Daily Kos:

"That means a command-and-control "climate change" bill. Get it now, before stupid Americans lose interest:

There is only one possible redemption in this horror, and even that is a slim chance. If the enormity of what has happened in the Gulf can hold the country's atrophied attention long enough, and if we can mobilize fast enough, we might, just might, be able to bring about a positive change from this:

Real and comprehensive energy and climate legislation.

We must act now to force our legislators to write law with teeth and real effect, law that requires consumers pay the true price of the carbon they burn, law that requires business to pay the true price of the carbon they spew, law that includes the costs of things "no one could have anticipated" into the price of doing business."

Before us stupid Americans lose interest. So much for literary decorum and insulting us stupid Americans in a polite way.

Please do not misunderstand me on the Gulf oil spill. This is a disaster like we may have not ever experienced, perhaps surpassing the Exxon Valdez spill. To ban all offshore drilling is a fools rush into slitting our our throats before the proper first aid is ready to stem the loss of blood. I am all for new, heightened regulations and inspections for ALL offshore drilling platforms and wells, in a reasonable manner. Permits must not be tied up or killed in favor of a knee jerk reaction of an energy policy that will severely cripple our economy and this country's citizens. The Obama administration has not been friendly to the oil and coal industry. There is room for improvements and using what we have to produce clean, efficient energy. What we have available to us now must be taken advantage of, used wisely and safely in combination with other green and clean energy sources as they become affordably available to this country. This article from the Kos has the audacity to compare the Gulf spill with 9/11 and the tragic and painful loss of 3,000 American lives. How low and disgusting can these far left demosocialistacrats go, and how insulting is this to us 'stupid Americans?' My response cannot be printed here. You know what I am thinking and want to write. I refuse to stoop to down to that low level that comes under a mushroom like the far left does. Has desperation set in that badly? The people who live along the Gulf Coast have reasons to be in desperate straights, not these asshats at the Daily Kos.

Daily Kos: Gulf Oil Spill Is The Green Lobby's 9/11, to Exploit 'In the Most Cynical, Calculated Way'
By Tim Graham

From the "Did I Say That Out Loud?" Department: "Crashing Vor" on the Daily Kos asserted on Tuesday morning that a good crisis should never go to waste. The Gulf oil spill must be exploited, and the greens must "use this moment, use the deaths of species and the suffering of people who depend on them, in the most cynical, calculated way, as bad as a Republican after 9/11, to make real, lasting change in how we address the costs of our way of life." That means a command-and-control "climate change" bill.

We must act now to force our legislators to write law with teeth and real effect, law that requires consumers pay the true price of the carbon they burn, law that requires business to pay the true price of the carbon they spew, law that includes the costs of things "no one could have anticipated" into the price of doing business.

We are going to have to fight harder for this than for health care or finance reform or DADT repeal. We are going to have to find Republicans to turn. (You really don't think Mary Landrieu is going to oppose her owners on this, do you?) And we are going to have to do it now, this summer.

Because, despite their never getting another decent shrimp, despite their condo in Destin halving in value, despite all the pictures of ugly, oily critters, America is going to forget this, the largest kill-off the environment will likely see in our lifetimes.

A new crisis will erupt, a new tragedy will befall an innocent, a celebrity will fuck someone they shouldn't. Americans will drool by their TVs, remark, "Ain't that somethin'?" and then hop in their vehicles to work and shop and play. More holes will be dug.

And all of this will have meant nothing.

Unless we use this moment, use the deaths of species and the suffering of people who depend on them, in the most cynical, calculated way, as bad as a Republican after 9/11, to make real, lasting change in how we address the costs of our way of life.

You cannot save the Gulf. But you can make its death mean something.

The 9/11 comparison might seem a little odd to Bush fans, since the terrorists didn't exactly take a month to arrive at the World Trade Center while the Bush team watched them for weeks without doing much. The Gulf Oil spill also has yet to cost more than 3,000 American lives

Environazis score a big win in New York. So how about 30% LESS electricity for New Yorkers?

So if the Indian Point Power plant gets shut down or even goes off line for updating, where will New York make up that 30% loss of electricity? Wind power, No. Solar energy, No. Hydroelectric, No. Wave energy, No. Raise rates and buy from out of state or Canada? Most likely. Welcome to the real Obama future for energy in America. "We will shut down our exisitng power plants whether they be nuclear, coal or natural gas, charge the rate payers more and then figure out what we will do to generate more energy." Can't you just hear Obama saying those words in some closed door meeting? So much for dope, change and a transparent administration. It is all about the lies!

New York Denies Indian Point a Water Permit

NYT, In a major victory for environmental advocates, New York State has ruled that outmoded cooling technology at the Indian Point nuclear power plant kills so many Hudson River fish, and consumes and contaminates so much water, that it violates the federal Clean Water Act.

The decision is a blow to the plant’s owner, the Entergy Corporation, which now faces the prospect of having to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to build stadium-size cooling towers, or risk that Indian Point’s two operating reactors — which supply 30 percent of the electricity used by New York City and Westchester County — could be forced to shut down.

Entergy officials said that they were “disappointed” in the ruling and that they might fight it in court. The original federal licenses for the two 1970s-era reactors expire in 2013 and 2015, and a water quality certificate is a prerequisite for a 20-year renewal by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. But a prolonged appeal in New York could delay a shutdown, Diane Screnci, a spokeswoman for the commission, said late Saturday.

An Entergy spokesman said that converting Indian Point’s cooling system would cost $1.1 billion and would require shutting both reactors down entirely for 42 weeks.

The ruling in New York comes after President Obama pressed for the construction of new nuclear plants in his State of the Union address. But it is the second instance since of a state asserting its power to threaten an existing nuclear plant. In Vermont, the State Senate voted overwhelmingly in February to block operation of Entergy’s Vermont Yankee plant after 2012, citing leaks of radioactive tritium, inaccurate testimony by company officials and other problems.

Nuclear proponents said they hoped that the federal government would determine that the nation’s energy needs should take precedence over such state-level actions. “The N.R.C. may decide this is not a policy they’re going to give credence to,” said Arthur J. Kremer, chairman of the New York Affordable Reliable Electricity Alliance, of which Entergy is a member. “It’s bad news for investors in new power facilities and in upgrading old ones.”

The battle over Indian Point, which is in Buchanan, about 35 miles north of Midtown Manhattan, has been raging for decades, and the latest decision will not soon end that fight. Continue reading
