Overtures to Egypt’s Islamists Reverse Longtime U.S. Policy-Coptic Solidarity

This is an outstanding article from Coptic Solidarity, which I found through Foreign Confidential. Thank you, Confidential Reporter.

If anyone is foolish enough to think the muslim brotherhood which stood in solidarity with Hitler, Nazi Germany and was the originator of the the final solution, stands for peace or anything but the imposition of islamic sharia law, then you had better read this next post. I have just posted a portion of this article and you can read the rest by just following the link at the end of the post.

As I have stated before: THERE IS NO PEACE WITH islam, AND WITH islam THERE CAN NEVER BE PEACE.

Overtures to Egypt’s Islamists Reverse Longtime U.S. Policy
By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and STEVEN LEE MYERS

With the Muslim Brotherhood pulling within reach of an outright majority in Egypt’s new Parliament, the Obama administration has begun to reverse decades of mistrust and hostility as it seeks to forge closer ties with an organization once viewed as irreconcilably opposed to United States interests.

The administration’s overtures — including high-level meetings in recent weeks — constitute a historic shift in a foreign policy held by successive American administrations that steadfastly supported the autocratic government of President Hosni Mubarak in part out of concern for the Brotherhood’s Islamist ideology and historic ties to militants.

The shift is, on one level, an acknowledgment of the new political reality here, and indeed around the region, as Islamist groups come to power. Having won nearly half the seats contested in the first two rounds of the country’s legislative elections, the Brotherhood on Tuesday entered the third and final round with a chance to extend its lead to a clear majority as the vote moved into districts long considered strongholds.

The reversal also reflects the administration’s growing acceptance of the Brotherhood’s repeated assurances that its lawmakers want to build a modern democracy that will respect individual freedoms, free markets and international commitments, including Egypt’s treaty with Israel.

And at the same time it underscores Washington’s increasing frustration with Egypt’s military rulers, who have sought to carve out permanent political powers for themselves and used deadly force against protesters seeking an end to their rule.

The administration, however, has also sought to preserve its deep ties to the military rulers, who have held themselves up as potential guardians of their state’s secular character. The administration has never explicitly threatened to take away the $1.3 billion a year in American military aid to Egypt, though new Congressional restrictions could force cuts.

Nevertheless, as the Brotherhood moves toward an expected showdown with the military this month over who should control the interim government — the newly elected Parliament or the ruling military council — the administration’s public outreach to the Brotherhood could give the Islamic movement in Egypt important support. It could also confer greater international legitimacy on the Brotherhood.

It would be “totally impractical” not to engage with the Brotherhood “because of U.S. security and regional interests in Egypt,” a senior administration official involved in shaping the new policy said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss diplomatic affairs.

“There doesn’t seem to me to be any other way to do it, except to engage with the party that won the election,” the official said, adding, “They’ve been very specific about conveying a moderate message — on regional security and domestic issues, and economic issues, as well.”

Some close to the administration have even called this emerging American relationship with the Brotherhood a first step toward a pattern that could take shape with the Islamist parties’ coming to power around the region in the aftermath of the uprisings of the Arab Spring. Islamists have taken important roles in Morocco, Libya, Tunisia and Egypt in less than a year.

“You’re certainly going to have to figure out how to deal with democratic governments that don’t espouse every policy or value you have,” said Senator John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat who is chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and recently joined with the ambassador to Egypt, Anne W. Patterson, for a meeting with top leaders of the Brotherhood’s political party.

Fjordman-An Open Letter to Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg

As I am way behind, I beg your forgiveness but life has been let me just say, hectic and painful.

Here is one of Fjordman's latest post from Gates Of Vienna. I will NOT shorter his posts up nor omit anything from his posts. They do run a bit long but there is usually a lot of meat inside his posts. I have yet to read one I do not agree with.

If Patriot's Corner is one of those "dark corners of the Internet", then so be it.

****************************************************************************************************************

An Open Letter to Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg

In his New Year’s speech, the prime minister of Norway made a thinly-veiled (and antagonistic) reference to Fjordman. Below is Fjordman’s response.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg heads a three-party left-wing coalition government. In his prestigious New Year’s speech that was delivered on national TV over several channels on January 1, 2012, the prime minister said many fine things. He also stated the following:

“The Internet at its worst is when totalitarian seducers are allowed to remain unchallenged in dark corners of the Net. We have to face this with resolve. We shall drive them out with the light of knowledge. Voicing opposition to extremism is taking responsibility for the future.”

He didn’t openly call for censorship as such, but he promoted the term ytringsansvar, which could be translated as “speech responsibility”, or “responsible speech”. Critical observers might reasonably claim that this neologism is frequently used as a code word for Multicultural censorship of anything related to the ongoing mass immigration. The prime minister advocated that people should become more active digital watchdogs and simply say “No, you are wrong” when confronted with extreme opinions.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the proposition that we should confront extremist opinions when we encounter them, but who determines what is to be considered “extreme”? For instance, I maintain that the immigration policies promoted by virtually all Western government today would be considered fairly extreme from a long historical perspective. Is it not an “extreme” outcome when the native population of European countries will, with mathematical certainty, be reduced to a minority in their own countries within a few decades, if present trends continue?

In response to Prime Minister Stoltenberg, who promotes speech responsibility, writer Christian Skaug has introduced the term lytteansvar, that is, a “responsibility to listen”. The Western ruling classes suffer from a listening deficit, especially when it comes to their immigration policies. They don’t properly listen or take into account the wishes of their own people in this regard.

This suppression could potentially lead to serious tensions in the future if left unchecked for much longer. A rising number of Europeans are asking themselves why Western leaders are so busy listening to the “legitimate grievances” of Muslims or other alien peoples, but rarely to the legitimate complaints and concerns of their own people, who increasingly feel like aliens in their own cities.

I understand all too well that some people in the mass media and elsewhere believe that Prime Minister Stoltenberg’s New Year’s speech was a thinly veiled attack on dissident writers who are critical of his government’s immigration policies, with myself prominent among those critics. This idea is not entirely without basis. This speech was in many ways as far as a sitting Prime Minister can go in attacking a specific private citizen without actually naming his name. Party secretary Raymond Johansen of the Labor Party — the prime minister’s party — has attacked me by name several times, however. He has even labeled me a “dangerous extremist”.

I am not sure whether Mr. Stoltenberg truly understands what “totalitarian” means. Was he by any chance referring to some of the radical Islamic organizations his government has shown willingness to cooperate with?

Was he thinking of the fact that his own government in March 2007 became the first in the entire Western world — beating even reliably pro-Islamic Sweden — to accept a government led by the terrorist organization Hamas?

Is he aware of the fact that Hamas in is arguably more totalitarian than the Communists or the Nazis were in Europe?

One also has to point out that except for Islam and Islamic pressures, by far the most powerful and dangerous source of totalitarian impulses on the European continent today is the European Union. The EU has for most practical purposes virtually abolished democratic accountability from the Black Sea to the North Sea, leaving in place an empty shell of parliaments that are nearly devoid of real power to serve as a democratic fig leaf for the autocratic oligarchs.

As I told a journalist from NRK Radio, I am neither totalitarian nor a seducer, and have spent years of my life fighting against Islamic extremism. I am a great supporter of the light of knowledge, and can document all of my claims.

For example, no journalist has ever managed to show that any of the networks my friend Bat Ye’or writes about in her book about Eurabia do not exist. EU authorities themselves state in official documents that are available on the Internet in English and other languages that the EU is to be gradually enlarged to encompass Muslim North Africa and the Middle East. The material also includes the so-called “four freedoms”, among them the free movement of people across borders. This aim is stated quite explicitly in their long-term plans. This is not a conspiracy theory. It is not even a theory. It is a fact.

Moreover, I stand by my claim that Islam cannot be reformed, not if reformation means a form of religion that can accept secular law and live in peace on equal terms with non-Muslims. If “reformation” is taken to imply a return to the early days of the original believers, as Luther and Calvin thought of it during the Protestant Reformation in Europe, then we have arguably already had a “Muslim Martin Luther.” His name was Osama bin Laden. He was a violent Jihadist because violent Jihad was what Mohammed and his followers both preached and practiced.

I will be more than happy to debate such issues with Mr. Stoltenberg. I am not sure if I understand what he refers to when he speaks of the supposed “dark corners of the Internet”. As Fjordman, before my name became publicly known, I used to say that I had a hidden identity, but not a hidden agenda. Anybody with access to a search engine, which means billions of people worldwide, can easily find out what I think about issues from German wheat beers to astrophysics and superstring theory to sharia law. My essays are brightly-lit, and they are spread across the Internet on different websites. They are not hidden away.

If people believe we have dark and dangerous opinions, then they are welcome to challenge these at Gates of Vienna or the other nasty “Islamophobic” websites where I publish on a regular basis.

For a complete archive of Fjordman’s writings, see the multi-index listing in the Fjordman Files.

Thanks to Gates Of Vienna for allowing PC to re post from their awesome site!

Rebel to the bone....

This is a guest post by a friend who goes by Blockaderunner. You read between the lines on his name. If you have studied the Civil war then you know who the Blockade runner's were. Maybe that should be a post for another day. BR loves the South, the Confederacy and the Stars and Bars, otherwise know as the Rebel or Confederate Flag. He makes no bones about this and neither do I.

He has given me permission to publish his poems, songs and thoughts here at Patriot's Corner. There will be more coming from Blockaderunner.

I Love the South and Confederacy, period. If you do not like this then get your sorry ass way far back, north of the Mason-Dixon line where you libtarded carpetbaggers belong.

Multiculturalism for those who are 'politically altered.' Yes, I am back, sort of, I think....

I had to steal this from Gates Of Vienna. Thanks to Baron and Dymphna, Vlad Tepes and KGS.

The into is totally the Baron's and this is classically funny and those of us who are Counterjihadists, islamophobes, right wing middle aged white domestic terrorists will surely understand, heh!

Enhanced and how.

---------------------------

The Marxist doctrine of Politically Correct Multiculturalism — which is now ascendant virtually throughout the West — emphasizes the indoctrination of children through the media, the schools, and even the day-care centers. Program them young, and they’re programmed for life.

The video below is a sample of multiculti indoctrination for little kids from Finnish television. It has been somewhat — ahem — enhanced by Vlad Tepes. Many thanks to KGS for the translation:

Hat tip to American Power, Weasel Zippers, and Coordinating Forum for Countering Anti-Semitism

As previously reported, the Occupy movement decided they wanted to crash the party at Pasadena's Rose Parade. Enabled by the cowards who represent the city and the parade, the occupiers were allowed to trail the final float down Colorado Blvd. Here is a video of their demonstration, in which they built a giant octopus as their symbol of somebody strangling the financial world. (Guess who.)

That octopus has great symbolism. It is reminiscent of the old cartoon drawing showing the Jewish octopus strangling the world's economy.

Ever since this Occupy phenomena began, there has been the specter of anti-Semitism as expressed by many of the individual protesters and many of their posters. The implication is clear. Wall, Street is controlled by the Jews. Not to say that every single protester embraces that idea, and, undoubtedly, there are Jewish protesters among them. Yet, it is out there, and it is scandalous that so few are willing to call it out.

Several times the theme has cropped up, especially in New York and Los Angeles. It is no accident that you are seeing Palestinian keffiyas (scarves) on some protesters. It is no accident that CAIR has joined the protesters in New York. They have taken advantage of yet another opportunity for the anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian crowd to link arms with the left. What happened today in Pasadena simply adds more documentation.

Even without the octopus and its ugly symbolism, what happened today in Pasadena was an outrage. The city officials obviously caved in to the demands of the mob, and as a result, the traditional parade was defaced and disgraced as never before in its long history.

Meanwhile, in New York's Zuccotti Park, there was more anarchy and more arrests on New Years eve. A policeman was stabbed in the hand, and protesters obstructed the ambulance trying to take him to the hospital.

The battle lines are being drawn for this November's election. This is President Obama's crowd out there. You see almost nothing; you hear almost nothing said against Obama, the administration or the Democrats. Accordingly, neither Obama nor the Democrats will condemn them.

If this is what you want to see running the country for another 4 years, your choice is clear; Obama is your man.

Multiculturalism and murder

The nonsensical assertion that each culture is as good as any other, and that anyone from Britain or the States has no business passing judgement on anyone else's culture, is exposed yet again as one the most appalling perversions humanity has ever inflicted upon itself.

In today's news: Two men have been arrested in India for cutting out a 7 year old girl's liver in a ritual sacrifice so that their crops would grow.

Of course, one would expect any multiculti to utter the expected platitudes about this horrific event. But they cannot issue a full-throated condemnation of this act, because they do not have the moral capacity to do so.

In order to pass judgement on acts which are endorsed within another culture, one must employ a moral "yardstick" which supercedes both that culture and your own. And multicultis deny that such a yardstick exists.

Or to look at the other side of that coin, to acknowledge that such a yardstick exists is to acknowledge that in principle, it is possible to judge other cultures. Not only is it possible, it is inevitable. It is, in fact, one's highest duty as a human being to do so. And multicultis will never acknowledge this.

So we're left with 7 year old children being murdered by ignorant farmers, and while any morally sane person living in the West will condemn this, we must at the same time admit that our politicians, the managed media, and our so-called "intelligentsia" have spent years creating a new Western culture; one which at its core has no intellectual or moral basis that would allow anyone to genuinely, profoundly, pass judgement on the ritual sacrifice of a little girl.

We can condemn this act. And we can condemn the culture in which this act of infanticide is embedded, and which apparently gave it meaning. But we do this as individuals.

If the societies we live in today do not, and can not, provide people with a sound moral and intellectual framework with which to condemn an act of ritual infanticide, then our societies are no better than the one which gave meaning to the murder of that little girl.

Ron Paul's Soros Defense Plan

I'm bringing this article "as is" from Frontpagemag.com. A word of warning: if the long list of names and evidence becomes tedious, skip ahead!
And if you want a quick dose of Paulian insanity, check out the original article's comments section.

It was recently observed that Ron Paul was to the left of Obama on national security and the best evidence for that statement can be found when one year ago Ron Paul joined forces with Barney Frank on a proposal to gut national defense via a panel of experts, quite a few of whom were tied to George Soros.

In July 2010, Barney Frank and Ron Paul co-authored a Huffington Post article rolling out their Sustainable Defense Task Force. The Task Force “consisting of experts on military expenditures that span the ideological spectrum” would recommend a trillion dollars in defense cuts. The experts, however, didn’t quite “span the ideological spectrum” — more like float under it.

The panel of experts who would decide how to best gut national defense featured such independent thinkers as William D. Hartung of the New America Foundation. Hartung’s main expertise was appearing in “Hijacking Catastrophe: 9/11, Fear & the Selling of American Empire.”

Then there was Lawrence J. Kolb of the Center for American Progress and Miriam Pemberton of the Institute for Policy Studies. If you want to know what the Center, the Foundation and the Institute all have in common, it’s Hungarian and smells like stale cabbage and the death of nations.

The rather creepy Institute for Policy Studies issued a paper proposing that Obama act as king and rule through executive orders. The New American Foundation is not only backed by Soros but has his son on its leadership council. The Center for American Progress is run by the co-chair of Obama’s transition team and is, for all intents and purposes, the think tank of the White House. All three are Soros funded.

But it doesn’t end there. Also on the panel was Christopher Hellman of the National Priorities Project (NPP). If you are wondering what the NPP is, it’s a think tank whose objective is to “influence national spending priorities.” And if you’re in the mood for a double, Miriam Pemberton is also on the board of the NPP. The man behind the curtain at NPP? None other than our favorite Hungarian James Bond villain.

Going further down the list there’s Winslow Wheeler of the Center for Defense Information (CDI). The CDI’s goal is to strengthen “national and international security through international cooperation [and] reduced reliance on unilateral military power to resolve conflict.” CDI operates under the aegis of the World Security Institute, which is apparently the least creepy name they could think of. Wheeler is a Counterpunch contributor, a site which even Stalinists think goes a bit too far. CDI gets money from the Open Society Institute (OSI) where the stench of death and stale cabbage never goes away.

Then there’s Charles Knight and Carl Conetta of the Project for Defense Alternatives, which appears to be a subset of the Commonwealth Institute. Of its board of directors, S.M. Miller is also the founder of United for a Fair Economy which enjoys generous support from a certain philanthropic chap who occasionally destroys economies for sport. Another member, Guy Molyneux, has also worked with OSI. A third board member, Richard Healey, was formerly director of the Institute for Policy Studies and is on the advisory board of the Center for Social Inclusion, founded by two OSI veterans.

If you think this can’t get any worse, meet Paul Kawika Martin of Peace Action (PA). You might know PA better by its old name, the “Committee for a SANE Nuclear Policy” or just “SANE,” a Communist front group investigated by none other than Senator Thomas Dodd. PA has the same attitude toward American defense that burglars have toward alarm systems in other people’s homes. They don’t like them very much. And they have a “five year strategic plan” for the job.

Paul Kawika Martin travels around fighting progress on board The Rainbow Warrior and is also involved with Physicians for Social Responsibility. Martin has also collaborated with the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), a front for the Iranian regime. I think you can guess by now who funds Physicians for Social Responsibility.

Also on the task force is Laicie Olson of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. The Center is actually a subset of the Council for a Livable World. Olson originally worked for Physicians for Social Responsibility.

Another task force member was Heather Hurlburt of the National Security Network (NSN). The NSN’s goals are to “build a strong progressive national security and counter conservative spin.” Its founder was part of Obama’s transition team and resigned to work for Janet Napolitano. Soros’s OSI helped fund NSN, and its Special Counsel was on the NSN Policy Committee.

If you’re tired of reading through all this, then here’s the summary. Of the Paul-Frank Task Force, 9 out of 14 members were linked to Soros’s organs. Two were affiliated with the Cato Institute. One is indeterminate.

Ron Paul proposed to put a bunch of Soros-funded think tank experts in charge of dismantling the US military. Think about that for a moment. Ron Paul supporters can see conspiracies in a glass of water; can they see anything wrong with this picture? Can they see anything wrong with having a man from a group that was investigated for its Communist ties in the driver’s seat on national defense?

The task force’s proposals included cutting nuclear deterrence; reducing the fleet by 57 ships, including two carriers; canceling the Joint Strike Fighter; “severely curtail missile defense” — and that is a direct quote from the report — retiring four Marine battalions; reducing the military by 200,000 personnel; cutting defense research spending by 50 billion over ten years; and increasing health care fees for members of the military.

Not only did Paul join forces with Barney Frank to slash military preparedness, but he ended up putting the experts of a foreign billionaire with global ambitions in charge of the project. And that was what he did as a congressman. Can anyone imagine what he would do as president?

But why would Ron Paul allow George Soros that much power and influence over America’s defense policy? There are a number of possibilities. There is the possibility that Ron Paul just didn’t know and didn’t bother to do his research. Which is not much of a recommendation for the job he’s running for. There’s another possibility that Ron Paul knew and didn’t care, that he had no objection to being part of a left-right alliance against the “American Empire” with Soros. But there’s also a third possibility.

During the previous election, Americans Against Escalation in Iraq (AAEI) ran an ad praising Ron Paul for his position against the war. AAEI was an umbrella group for MoveOn.org, the Center for American Progress, SEIU, Americans United For Change, the National Security Network and others in the progressive bestiary. A number of those beasties were Soros groups.

I’m not one to dabble in conspiracy theories, but when Soros pays for an ad praising you during the Republican primaries and then you put his experts in charge of America’s defense policy, then maybe some questions should be asked.

Will Santorum Be the New Flavor of the Day?

All of a sudden, Rick Santorum, former senator from Pennsylvania, is surging in the Iowa polls. In fact, he may even win the Iowa caucus. I suppose that would mean that the mad-hatters at MSNBC will be looking for dirt on him as they did with previous front-runners. Unfortunately for them, Santorum has no obvious skeletons in his closet. My question is whether Santorum can take a strong showing in Iowa and become a serious candidate as a real conservative.

This morning, Santorum was interviewed by Fox's Shepherd Smith, who grilled him on his opposition to gay marriage. Santorum's answer was based on his religious opposition. That would not have been my answer, but I am not Santorum. Could that hurt him with independent voters in a general election? I don't have the answer for that, but, on the other hand, I don't view it as one of the major issues.

As a conservative, I think Santorum is in many ways, the most attractive candidate. Come the California primary, I won't be able to vote for anyone since I am not a registered Republican. I guess at this stage, I would have to weigh my preference on the one I like the most and who can beat Obama. I guess that means I am leaning toward Romney and Santorum. Whoever it is, I hope the VP pick will be Marco Rubio.

At any rate, I expect the little rascals at MSNBC will be talking a lot about Rick Santorum and what a bad guy he is by the end of the week.

Sabre rattling in the Strait of Hormuz

Iran are threatening to take steps to close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most strategically important stretches of water in the world today. They have as promised test fired medium range missiles during recent naval maneuvers. Obama has authorized financial sanctions against Iran, but they obviously don't care too much, & let's face it, we all know fine well that the all-important Mohammaden Manhattan Project isn't going to be slowed down one iota, not for Obama or anyone else. Interesting times lie ahead ...

Quick update and then some sleep. I hope....

Damn it to heck, seems like a break just cannot come our way.
I had a most pleasant New Year's eve. The wife's band had a gig and the restaurant where they played had their best day ever. They have been open for just a little over a year and the fact that they have survived and thrived in this poor economy says a lot. We got home about 12:45 A.M. and I get a call on our land line (yep, we still have one) and it is the hospital in Bend. Scott had just been admitted and was having a severe flare up in his ALS symptoms. BY the time I got to the hospital Scott had become paralyzed on his left side, his arm, leg etc. He had not had a stroke. They had already admitted him and started treatment.

He was totally overcome with fear and had totally lost it. I called his pastor and we spent the night with him. I have been home for a few hours getting caught up here at home. After talking with his neurologist and other doctors, this is not an unusual thing with ALS patients. When I left yesterday evening he was starting to regain some movement in his left arm and face. Later this week we are meeting with an attorney who is going to fast track his case for Social Security Disability.

I will be back later today with a few posts unless Scott takes a turn for the worse which I do not think will happen.

Thanks to Nick and HermitLion for the posts they got posted up!
