UK: Cafe owner to fight order to remove extractor fan because smell of frying bacon offends Muslims

Striking back at absurd British dhimmitude. An update on this story. "Cafe bosses in 'bacon smell' row to fight ban," by Alex Scapens in the Manchester Evening News, January 5 (thanks to Benedict):

A cafe is to fight an extractor fan ban - after a neighbour complained that Muslim friends would not visit him because of the smell of bacon.

The Snack Shack, on Adswood Road, Cale Green, is to appeal against the decision by the Stepping Hill area committee.

The Planning Inspectorate will give a final ruling by the end of January.

The cafe installed the fan three years ago and applied for retrospective planning permission.

But neighbour Graham Webb-Lee told the council it made his family feel sick and his Muslim friends refused to visit him because they were offended by the smell.

The cafe is owned by Bev and Cetin Akcicek, who is Muslim.

Bev, 50, said: "We have two small children and are just trying to earn a living.

"We just wish this was over. It is pathetic and has cost us a lot of money. We pre-cook the bacon and only put it on the griddle briefly so there is no problem with the smell.

"We have Muslim customers who come in and they are not at all bothered."

The Snack Shack has cooked fry-ups for nine years without a previous complaint.

muslims offend each other with ham flavored cottage cheese

You just cannot make this stuff up. I will never cease to be amazed by what I call the 'Crybaby muslim syndrome.' This group of people is so easily offended , no wonder they are always attacking and killing each other off. This event happened in South Africa and apparently there is more than one couple that was offended by the holy pig flavored cottage cheese. This has resulted in the divorce of one happy couple and is sure to be a hit with other who call this perverted ideology a religion. From the timesalive.co.za

Couple split after row over ham

A tub of ham-flavoured cottage cheese has been blamed for the break-up of a Muslim couple's marriage, according to Islamic fundamental body, the Majlis-ul-Ulama, which posted a complaint on its website from a Port Elizabeth man.

He claimed his wife had left him after a heated row over a tub of Lancewood smoked ham-flavoured cottage cheese bearing a halaal certification sign by the South African NationalHalaal Association (Sanha).

In his letter to the Majlis, the unnamed husband said his wife made him a sandwich using the cheese purchased by her.

"When I examined the tub I could not believe the filth I had consumed. It shocked the guts out of me."

All pork products are forbidden in Islam. The husband queried whether he could sue Sanha for the "trauma, the break-up of my marriage, the violation of my religious rights and feelings".

The Islamic body said they had also received another complaint about the ham-flavoured cottage cheese from Newcastle last week.

The Majlis queried the matter with Sanha, which confirmed a labelling error by the manufacturer's had resulted in the erroneous endorsement.

This prompted the Majlis to accuse Sanha of deceiving consumers. "Its stock response of 'error' mocks the intelligence of Muslims."

However, while Sanha has acknowledged the labelling error, they have questioned the authenticity of the claim posted on the website. They confirmed an error occurred last month when its certification logo was wrongly placed on 40000 tubs of the cottage cheese.

Sanha spokesman Ebi Lockhat said, however, they had received no complaints.

Lockhat said: "It is unthinkable to even contemplate we would approve any products with offensive connotations."

He challenged the authenticity of the marital break-up adding that they had not been contacted by the couple.

"None of our associate organisations in PE have heard of this incident bar the report in the Majlis.

"We are mystified as to why the wife would wilfully purchase the offensive product."

In a letter of apology to Sanha this week, Morné Muller, quality manager at Lancewood, said there was a miscommunication which was not rectified in time and resulted in some of the products ending up on shelves across the country.

"We hereby confirm our commitment to the halaal standards and wish to place on record our sincere apologies."

They said the logo had been "blanked" out on the products already manufactured at the time and new packaging would not carry the logo.

In the letter Muller said that the ham-flavoured cottage cheese did not contain any pork substances but a synthetic ham flavouring.

Man's best friend has origins in the Middle East. Dogs are like pigs to Muslims.

What a twist this is. While I was taking a break due to severe pain, AJ the editor found this article in our local fish wrapper. Much to his delight he insisted that this get posted. I would rather have one good dog than the false friendship and lies that flow from Islam and radical Muslims. All the dogs I have had the pleasure of sharing my, our familiy's life with have been loyal, obedient(mostly),friendly except when one of the family was threatened, trustworthy and more honest than the garbage that you find in the Koran and Hadith. AJ is a Black and Tan Coonhound, Rottweiler pound puppy. Who owns who is never in doubt and who is really getting taken for a 'walk'?

New Finding Puts Origins of Dogs in Middle East

New York Times, Borrowing methods developed to study the genetics of human disease, researchers have concluded that dogs were probably first domesticated from wolves somewhere in the Middle East, in contrast to an earlier survey suggesting dogs originated in East Asia.

This finding puts the first known domestication — that of dogs — in the same place as the domestication of plants and other animals, and strengthens the link between the first animal to enter human society and the subsequent invention of agriculture about 10,000 years ago.

A Middle Eastern origin for the dog also fits in better with the archaeological evidence, and has enabled geneticists to reconstruct the entire history of the dog, from the first association between wolves and hunter gatherers some 20,000 years ago to the creation by Victorian dog fanciers of many of today’s breeds.

A research team led by Bridgett M. vonHoldt and Robert K. Wayne of the University of California, Los Angeles, has analyzed a large collection of wolf and dog genomes from around the world. Scanning for similar runs of DNA, the researchers found that the Middle East was where wolf and dog genomes were most similar, although there was another area of overlap between East Asian wolves and dogs. Wolves were probably first domesticated in the Middle East, but after dogs had spread to East Asia there was a crossbreeding that injected more wolf genes into the dog genome, the researchers conclude in Thursday’s issue of the journal Nature.

The archaeological evidence supports this idea, since some of the earliest dog remains have been found in the Middle East, dating from 12,000 years ago. The only earlier doglike remains occur in Belgium, at a site 31,000 years old, and in western Russia from 15,000 years ago.

Humans lived as roaming hunters and gatherers for most of their existence. Dr. Wayne believes that wolves began following hunter-gatherer bands to feed on the wounded prey, carcasses or other refuse. At some stage a group of wolves, who happened to be smaller and less threatening than most, developed a dependency on human groups, and may in return have provided a warning system. Continue reading
