As previously reported, the Southern California chapter of CAIR will be holding yet another fundraiser on March 23, in which Minnesota Congresswoman  Ilhan Omar (D) will be a featured speaker. In the wake of her recent anti-Jewish statements, it is no coincidence that CAIR, whose SoCal director, Hussam Ayloush, has his own history of anti-Jewish statements, would host this already disgraced freshman member of Congress.

But it gets worse. Also appearing at this annual whoopey is CAIR's Florida director, Hassan Shibly, a supporter of Hizbollah, also no stranger to controversy. Shibly is most recently in the news because he is representing none other than Hoda Muthana, the woman who went off to join ISIS and now wants to return back to the US. Presently, the Department of State is refusing to allow her to return. There is a dispute as to whether she is a legitimate US citizen. Shibly argues that she is a citizen and should be allowed to return.

I had forgotten, but Muthana came up in Fousesquawk back in 2015 when she left the US. Back then, Shibley, who is an attorney, was representing the Muthana family in Alabama.

But how coincidental that Ayloush, who back in 2015 was speaking at an event entiltled, "The Crisis of ISIS" in Garden Grove and was complaining that everybody was talking about the "about 20" Muslim Americans who had gone off to join ISIS in Iraq and Syria while nobody was talking about the "thousands" of Jewish American men who had joined the Israel Defense Forces "killing the people of Gaza". And now he is hosting the very man representing one of those jihadists. Small world, indeed.

And returning to Omar, it has recently been disclosed that back in 2016, she was writing to a judge arguing for leniency for 9 Muslims who had been arrested for trying to join ISIS themselves.

Given the natuire of the personalities at this March 23 event, I guess the theme will be something along the lines of, "Bring our troops home."

Cancer for Breakfast pt. 2

Well, here's the next part of my post-diagnosis, post-surgery entries. I've been thinking lately about something that Jack London said in John Barleycorn - "I am afraid I always was an extremist." I read that book many years ago, when I was trying to stop drinking. My drinking years, which were the middle 18 years of my life, commenced after I started working and had some money in my pocket, and they spiked up whenever I got some time off. Time and opportunity would always equal excess in my world.

And I can't help thinking now that there is a bill to be paid for such behaviour. Some examples: I went drinking one afternoon in a bar called The Tap Room in Aberdeen, Scotland, which sold a fine Orcadian ale called Skullsplitter, and after a few of those it was game on. I woke up a week and a half later on a park bench in Luxembourg City.

Another time I went missing for a fortnight and woke up in a silent, dark room, on my back, wrapped in a white sheet. I thought to myself, "Oho, you've really done it this time." Turns out I was in a hotel room in London, of all places. I had a flash of memory, some geezer with a handlebar moustache wiping the head off a glass of beer in some bar, and Buddy Guy playing in the background. I had a funny feeling I'd been abroad.

Aye, I spent 18 years waiting to be able to drink legally, and another 18 drinking, then 18 more sober. Now I have this diagnosis. I take a leaf out of Raymond Carver's book here - I've had another life beyond the drinking one, so if 3 x 18 is all I get, then that'll have to do. I've had a rare old time when I was younger and able to drink to excess, and I wouldn't change any of it (Unless it was to go even farther in every regard, but I don't think that was humanly possible.) One thing I am kind of convinced of though, is that a day will come when the invoice will come through your letterbox. And one way or another - you'll pay for what you've done.

Cancer for Breakfast

About six months ago I got a phone call from my doctor. "We have a problem," he said. Apparently they had found a tumour on my left kidney. This was treated as a matter of urgency, and after an additional CT scan, I found myself through at the main hospital to have the kidney removed, which is known in the trade as a radical nephrectomy.

There's nothing like a wee spot of cancer to focus your mind. Those things which seemed to be oh so important in the pre-diagnosis era suddenly fade away, until they are nothing more than a vague background noise. All these people who are attacking President Trump, for instance. Yes, we have them here in the UK as well. The turning point for me was when Trump was still campaigning, and I spent an evening watching one of his rallies live on the internet. The coverage in the press the next day had absolutely nothing to do with what he spoke about at the rally, or what he actually stood for. This when the press revealed themselves for what they are - "fake news" who are being paid to push an anti-liberty narrative. This shouldn't be too much of a surprise - after all, it's much easier to keep beasts in captivity if they are docile, and it's easier still if they agree to be chained up.

Anyone who is relying on Trump to make the world a better place is going to be disappointed. Trump may score one or two victories, but the enemy will still be here after he is gone. And they will be furious! Their plans will have been temporarily held up, and they will want to make up for that lost time. Just watch - after Trump, these maniacs will go all out. In the final analysis, Trump's big achievement for the people is that his very presence has let us see the enemies of freedom for what they are. What we do with that knowledge is up to each one of us as individuals.

"Like other tyrannies, the tyranny of the majority was at first, and is still vulgarly, held in dread, chiefly as operating through the acts of the public authorities. But reflecting persons perceived that when society is itself the tyrant—society collectively, over the separate individuals who compose it—its means of tyrannising are not restricted to the acts which it may do by the hands of its political functionaries. Society can and does execute its own mandates: and if it issues wrong mandates instead of right, or any mandates at all in things with which it ought not to meddle, it practices a social tyranny more formidable than many kinds of political oppression, since, though not usually upheld by such extreme penalties, it leaves fewer means of escape, penetrating much more deeply into the details of life, and enslaving the soul itself."

Mill, John Stuart. On Liberty (AmazonClassics Edition) (p. 4). Amazon Classics. Kindle Edition.

We should not underestimate the depth of the evil involved in the effort to restrict our fundamental human liberty. For the freedom to assign meaning to your own life rests on your ability to uncover the truth and to speak your own mind. And this can't be said often enough - assigning meaning to your own life is the most important thing any human being can do in their time here on earth.

"He who lets the world, or his own portion of it, choose his plan of life for him, has no need of any other faculty than the ape-like one of imitation. He who chooses his plan for himself, employs all his faculties. He must use observation to see, reasoning and judgement to foresee, activity to gather materials for decision, discrimination to decide, and when he has decided, firmness and self-control to hold to his deliberate decision."

Mill, John Stuart. On Liberty (AmazonClassics Edition) (p. 66). Amazon Classics. Kindle Edition.

One thing about a potentially fatal illness is that the uninformed rantings of brainwashed people no longer matter. Any worries you might have had about what other people might think - about anything - are utterly non-existent. And here's the thing - one day each and every one of us will be in that position. You'll be on your own then, and if you're fortunate, then you'll have some time to assess what you've done with your life - what then?

Will you have lived your life using the ape-like faculty of imitation? Will you have lived your life afraid of what other people might think? Or will you have assigned meaning to your own life?

Think about this question carefully. Because this life you're living is not a rehearsal. This is the main event. And the grim reaper is standing at the side of the stage with one hand on the curtain, ready to close the show down, and in the other hand he's holding a big, sharp scythe.

Typhus Breaks out at LA City Hall

Gary Fouse

Last month, Los Angeles' hapless mayor, Eric "Yoga Pants" Garcetti, finally announced he would not run for the Democrat nomination for president in 2020. This after he wasted everybody's time and money traipsing around places like Iowa when he should have been minding the store at home.

That fact has been underlined this week with the revelations that typhus-TYPHUS- has broken out in and around the rat infested, flea infested City Hall.

It doesn't take the Center for Disease Control to figure out the cause; the area around City Hall is filled with homeless encampments. The lack of hygiene, coupled with urine and feces on the sidewalks, and voila! Welcome back to the Middle Ages. All while the empty suit mayor was off testing the presidential waters.

But there was good news out of City Hall on Friday. A resolution affirmed  that the city is, indeed, a sanctuary city. LA City Councilman, "One Bill Gil" Cedillo and Council President Herb Wesson, who had to have his flea-infested carpeting removed from his office, introduced this "blockbuster" back in September 2017. Things move slowly in LA and not just the traffic. (Cedillo earned his nickname when he was in state government in Sacramento for his never-ending efforts to  allow driver's licenses for illegal aliens in California.) Concerning those carpets having to be removed from City Hall, City Councilman Paul Koretz showed he knows about priorities when he stated his fervent hope that the carpets could be recycled. At least he didn't ask for the fleas to be released back into the wild. Meanwhile, the New Sheriff in Town, Alex Villanueva, is sticking to his guns in not allowing ICE agents in the county jail to harass and deport those unfortunate illegal alien criminals.

Eventually, somebody will wake up and get the message that homeless encampments are not a good idea for society. If a typus outbreak can't do the job, I guess nothing will. One would have thought that cities like LA and SF would have woken up after illegal alien criminals murdered their citizens on the city streets. Incredibly, not even that has been enough to do the trick. Now LA's own city hall is hit with a typhus outbreak. Will it be enough to open their eyes to the blight that surrounds them every day as they go in and out of City Hall? Don't hold your breath.
