Taqiyya unwrapped and defined. A must read!

I have received several emails from friends and followers if I could come up with an article on Taqiyya, which is using lies and deception to fool or hide the truth about islam from non-muslims or us infidels. A snap shot of what you will read below and this is from Citizen Warrior:

Jihad Watch's own Hugh Fitzgerald sums up taqiyya and kitman, a related form of deception.

"Taqiyya" is the religiously-sanctioned doctrine, with its origins in Shi'a Islam but now practiced by non-Shi'a as well, of deliberate dissimulation about religious matters that may be undertaken to protect Islam, and the Believers.

A related term, of broader application, is "kitman," which is defined as "mental reservation." An example of "Taqiyya" would be the insistence of a Muslim apologist that "of course" there is freedom of conscience in Islam, and then quoting that Qur'anic verse — "There shall be no compulsion in religion." {2:256}

But the impression given will be false, for there has been no mention of the Muslim doctrine of abrogation, or naskh, whereby such an early verse as that about "no compulsion in religion" has been canceled out by later, far more intolerant and malevolent verses.

In any case, history shows that within Islam there is, and always has been, "compulsion in religion" for Muslims, and for non-Muslims.

"Kitman" is close to "taqiyya," but rather than outright dissimulation, it consists in telling only a part of the truth, with "mental reservation" justifying the omission of the rest. One example may suffice. When a Muslim maintains that "jihad" really means "a spiritual struggle," and fails to add that this definition is a recent one in Islam (little more than a century old), he misleads by holding back, and is practicing "kitman."

Taqiyya — Religious Deception

The following is a chapter of Islam 101:

Due to the state of war between dar al-Islam and dar al-harb, ruses of war, i.e., systematic lying to the infidel, must be considered part and parcel of Islamic tactics. The parroting by Muslim organizations throughout dar al-harb that "Islam is a religion of peace," or that the origins of Muslim violence lie in the unbalanced psyches of particular individual "fanatics," must be considered as disinformation intended to induce the infidel world to let down its guard.

Of course, individual Muslims may genuinely regard their religion as "peaceful" — but only insofar as they are ignorant of its true teachings, or in the sense of the Egyptian theorist Sayyid Qutb, who posited in his Islam and Universal Peace that true peace would prevail in the world just as soon as Islam had conquered it.

A telling point is that, while Muslims who present their religion as peaceful abound throughout dar al-harb, they are nearly non-existent in dar al-Islam. A Muslim apostate once suggested to me a litmus test for Westerners who believe that Islam is a religion of "peace" and "tolerance": try making that point on a street corner in Ramallah, or Riyadh, or Islamabad, or anywhere in the Muslim world. He assured me you wouldn't live five minutes.

{A} problem concerning law and order {with respect to Muslims in dar al-harb} arises from an ancient Islamic legal principle — that of taqiyya, a word the root meaning of which is "to remain faithful" but which in effect means "dissimulation." It has full Quranic authority (3:28 and 16:106) and allows the Muslim to conform outwardly to the requirements of unislamic or non-Islamic government, while inwardly "remaining faithful" to whatever he conceives to be proper Islam, while waiting for the tide to turn. (Hiskett, Some to Mecca Turn to Pray, 101.)

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 269; Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "War is deceit."

Historically, examples of taqiyya include permission to renounce Islam itself in order to save one's neck or ingratiate oneself with an enemy.

It is not hard to see that the implications of taqiyya are insidious in the extreme: they essentially render negotiated settlement — and, indeed, all veracious communication between dar al-Islam and dar al-harb — impossible. It should not, however, be surprising that a party to a war should seek to mislead the other about its means and intentions.

A related term, of broader application, is "kitman," which is defined as "mental reservation." An example of "Taqiyya" would be the insistence of a Muslim apologist that "of course" there is freedom of conscience in Islam, and then quoting that Qur'anic verse — "There shall be no compulsion in religion." {2:256}

When he adduces, in support of this doubtful proposition, the hadith in which Muhammad, returning home from one of his many battles, is reported to have said (as known from a chain of transmitters, or isnad), that he had returned from "the Lesser Jihad to the Greater Jihad" and does not add what he also knows to be true, that this is a "weak" hadith, regarded by the most-respected muhaddithin as of doubtful authenticity, he is further practicing "kitman."

In times when the greater strength of dar al-harb necessitates that the jihad take an indirect approach, the natural attitude of a Muslim to the infidel world must be one of deception and omission.

Revealing frankly the ultimate goal of dar al-Islam to conquer and plunder dar al-harb when the latter holds the military trump cards would be strategic idiocy.

Fortunately for the jihadists, most infidels do not understand how one is to read the Quran, nor do they trouble themselves to find out what Muhammad actually did and taught, which makes it easy to give the impression through selective quotations and omissions that "Islam is a religion of peace."

Any infidel who wants to believe such fiction will happily persist in his mistake having been cited a handful of Meccan verses and told that Muhammad was a man of great piety and charity. Digging only slightly deeper is sufficient to dispel the falsehood.

Stop Enabling Stealth Jihad and Creeping Sharia: Gadi Adelman

You have read here many times about the use of Taqiyya by islam and muslims. Taqiyya is "Lying as commanded by the Quran and Hadith to further Islam." This is used all the time on us infidels, kaffirs. It is one of the reasons many and most mosques will have TWO services. One will be white bread, whitewashed to dupe and fool the non-beleivers of islam, those who may be visiting the mosque to see what islam is all about. The other service will be ususally drawn from the qur'an and be quite different. For those who have been brainwashed by islam, the qur'an and hadith. This next article is by Gadi Adelman who is now a regular here. I will be posting his articles each week. I seldom find anything to disagree on in Gadi's articles. Gadi encourages that we share his posts, so feel free to do so. Just make sure to give proper credit to the author and toss Patriot's Corner a bone, or 'hat tip.' Leave a link back to here and the original article is what I always try to do. If I forget on occasion it is never intentional. This post is a bit long but well worth your time. Gadi is spot on.

Stop Enabling Stealth Jihad and Creeping Sharia
By Gadi Adelman
The impact a word can have is infinite. Repeating a word over and over until it is common place can have the direst of consequences. It’s time to make a stand and call things as they are.

On September 17, 2001, just six days after the worst attack on American soil, President Bush gave a speech at the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C. Below is the end of that speech, in which he stated:

“These acts of violence against innocents violate the fundamental tenets of the Islamic faith. And it's important for my fellow Americans to understand that.

The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That's not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace. These terrorists don't represent peace. They represent evil and war.

When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world. Billions of people find comfort and solace and peace. And that's made brothers and sisters out of every race -- out of every race.

America counts millions of Muslims amongst our citizens, and Muslims make an incredibly valuable contribution to our country. Muslims are doctors, lawyers, law professors, members of the military, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, moms and dads. And they need to be treated with respect. In our anger and emotion, our fellow Americans must treat each other with respect.

Women who cover their heads in this country must feel comfortable going outside their homes. Moms who wear cover must be not intimidated in America. That's not the America I know. That's not the America I value.

I've been told that some fear to leave; some don't want to go shopping for their families; some don't want to go about their ordinary daily routines because, by wearing cover, they're afraid they'll be intimidated. That should not and that will not stand in America.

Those who feel like they can intimidate our fellow citizens to take out their anger don't represent the best of America, they represent the worst of humankind, and they should be ashamed of that kind of behavior.”

Although I didn’t agree with what he stated, I understood at the time why he said it. Right after September 11, we had many incidents of mosques being vandalized. People were being beaten and killed, some of whom were not even Muslim, but rather Hindu’s and Sikh men. These had been mistaken to be followers of Osama bin Laden because of their turbans and beards.

Things were truly getting out of hand. Hate crimes were up by astounding rates. According to an article by the Associated Press on June 29, 2003:

“Hate crimes against people because of their ethnicity or national origin--those not Hispanic, not black and not Asian or American Indian--also increased sharply, from 354 in 2000 to 1,501 in 2001. That category includes people of Middle Eastern descent or origin. The increases, the FBI said, occurred "presumably as a result of the heinous incidents that occurred on Sept. 11.”

But the statement “Islam is a religion of peace” has been stated over and over by many a politician thousands of times. It has now become mainstream and common place. So much so, that this continued all the way through the Bush Presidency. On October 4, 2007 George W. Bush spoke on Al Arabiya television and claimed that:

“The Islamic religion is a great religion that preaches peace.”

The very next day, on October 5, he hosted an iftar event at the White House, celebrating the daily breaking of the fast observed by Muslims during the month of Ramadan. Here he said:

“That’s not a Christian act to kill innocent people, and those who carried out the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York and Washington do not reflect the views of the vast majority of peaceful people in the Middle East.”

Funny that he even stated that at a Ramadan get-together. Well Mr. Bush, I can agree with that statement: “That’s not a Christian act to kill innocent people”. But then again, Muslims are not Christians are they?

As they often do with so many other statements, Muslim leaders and C.A.I.R. (Council on American Islamic Relations) are experts on utilizing what people say to their advantage. So, what started in order to quell anger and violence led to other “politically correct” terms.

Think back to pre-9/11 days. Do you recall anyone using the term “Radical Muslim” or “Moderate Muslim”? Interesting if you think about it; it’s not like we hadn’t seen Muslim terrorists in the news prior to 9/11.

Remember the Munich Olympic Massacre of 1972? The P.L.O. murdered 11 Israeli athletes and a German policeman in front of the entire world. Did the news refer to them as “radical Muslims”? No, they called them what they were; Muslim terrorists. Remember here in the U.S. the first time they tried to bring down the towers on February 26, 1993? Were they “radical Muslims” then? No, they were terrorists.

Now, we have the Obama administration, who in their infinite wisdom has removed each and every word from the National Security Strategy (pdf) that in any way, shape or form refers to Islam. No longer will anyone that works for the Government be allowed to say, use or write “Islamic terrorist”, “Islamic extremist”, “Jihad”, “Jihadist”, “ Islamist”… you get the point. I am sure the term “Muslim maniac” is out as well, even though that wasn’t specifically mentioned.

Utilizing the word “Radical” when describing a Muslim terrorist, suggests that there is such a thing as a “Moderate” as well. I am not saying all Muslims are terrorists. I am saying there is no moderate Islam. There are plenty of Muslims who aren't actively furthering the cause of jihad. But that doesn't mean that there is a form of Islam that is peaceful and non-supremacist.

I know I will take a lot of flak for that last comment; I will be accused of ‘hate speech’. Well, if you want hate speech, read the Quran!

Instead of believing what I say, allow me to quote the guest I had just last week on my radio show “America Akbar”. My guest was Dr. Thomas Ahmed. Dr. Ahmed is an Islamic convert who was born and raised in Sudan. A holder of 5 university degrees and expert on Islam, he is now an ordained Christian minister.

Dr. Ahmed is also the author of 12 books, all dealing with the problems of women in Muslim societies and the hidden causes that led to tragic events such as September 11. During my interview with him, we were discussing how anyone who says they are a Muslim must believe and embrace Sharia law. Dr. Ahmed made a telling comment referring to Muslim Americans:

“A Muslim is a Muslim, no matter where they live in the world”. “The terms “radical” and “moderate” Muslim is a Western term, you never hear these terms in Muslim countries”.

This point holds true for each and every Muslim. They must subscribe to all of the Quran and the Hadith. They cannot pick and choose what parts or verses they like or they would not be a “true” Muslim. So, once again, I am not saying all Muslims are terrorists. I am saying there is no moderate Islam.

If we continue to use words like “moderate” and “radical” we are subscribing to the famous quote by Lenin “A lie told often enough becomes truth”.

This week I had Usama Dakdok as a guest on my show. Usama was born in Egypt and raised in a Christian home as the son of a Baptist pastor. Usama learned about Islam in school because it was, and still is, a mandatory subject. To further his knowledge of Islam, he studied Islamic law in college and came to the U.S. in 1992. In 2001 Usama founded the Straight Way of Grace Ministry.

He travels throughout the United States equipping Christians to be effective witnesses of Jesus Christ to their Muslim neighbors, as well as ministering to Muslims directly.

We spoke about “moderate” vs. “radical” Islam and Usama, who is very to the point to say the least, stated:

“There is no such thing as a ‘moderate Muslim’,’ moderate Muslim’ exists only on paper. A moderate Muslim is a good Muslim who is practicing Taqiyya”. (Lying as commanded by the Quran and Hadith to further Islam) “Islam is worse than a cancer that is spreading throughout America”.

We, all of us, need to stop enabling the Muslims in this country and throughout the world. If you use the term “radical” or “moderate”, stop! If you hear someone else using it, correct them!

I have said in every lecture and written many times before: political correctness will be the death of this country. You think I am being too harsh? You think I am spewing hate or imagining how much power a word can have?

Think about it, first they were “terrorists” and then they were labeled as “radicals”. Then, quite recently, as in the case of Major Nidal Hasan, after he shot and murdered 13 and wounded 30, he was termed “misunderstood” and no news station said he was a Muslim. The 86 page report by the Pentagon never even mentions his motives even though he screamed “Allah Akbar” as he shot his fellow soldiers in cold blood. What’s more is that the words “Islam” or “Muslim” are never mentioned in 86 pages. Not even once. Even though his personal business cards were inscribed with the letters SoA (“Soldier of Allah”).

Then we had the SUV bomber in Times Square, ah yes, Faisal Shahzad. He was the victim. Remember the first reports? He was laid off, lost his mortgage and was “upset”.

No, the truth was: he quit his job and stopped paying his mortgage because he knew he was going to carry out Jihad in America. It would be stupid to pay your mortgage when you are traveling back and forth to Pakistan 13 times in one year for training and to be a good Muslim.

Stop enabling and before you call me or anyone else who speaks out on Islam a bigot or a hater, read the damn Quran. Then we’ll talk.

It is all right to lie and deceive the unbelievers in Islam

Taqiyya has often come up here at the 'Corner and Traveler has put together how, why and where the justification comes from for this in Islam. Islamic organization are old hands at using this method of lying and deception. CAIR is one of the worst offenders. What is even more tagic is how our elected officlials and most of the public in the United States are fooled by this tactic. Taqiyya is used to disarm Islam's enemies. The phrase 'smoke and mirrors' fits quite nicely. I have yet to meet a Muslim I would trust, and yes I have met quite a few. I know there are good, honest ones out there. I just wish they would speak up. We know why they cannot.

HOLY LIES OR TAQIYYA, AS SANCTIONED IN THE KORAN
By Traveler

Most religions respect the truth and forbid lying. However Islam is different.

Allah is 'the best of deceivers' (Qu’ran 3.54), and since the highest goal of Islamic ethics is to spread Islam by any means whatsoever,
it is hardly surprising that lying and deceit should be quite acceptable if carried out for the benefit of Islam.

"War is Deceit", said Muhammad, and Islam is always at war with the infidel until Islam dominates.

This 'Holy Lying' is known as taqiyya (sometimes spelled taqiya or taquiya) - This may take many forms, including outright lies, feigned moderation, and condemnation of terrorist attacks to the Infidel while rejoicing with fellow Muslims.

From the Qur’an:

Qur'an (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie.

Qur'an (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves."

Qur'an (9:3) - "...Allah and His Messenger are free from liability to the idolaters..." The dissolution of oaths with the pagans who remained at Mecca following its capture. They did nothing wrong, but were evicted anyway.

Qur'an (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who must "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.

Qur'an (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts"

Qur'an (66:2) - "Allah has already ordained for you, (O men), the dissolution of your oaths"

Qur'an (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means deceit. If Allah is deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. (See also 8:30 and 10:21)

Taken collectively these verses are interpreted to mean that there are circumstances when a Muslim may be "compelled" to deceive others for a greater purpose.

From the Hadith:

Bukhari (52:269) - "The Prophet said, 'War is deceit.'" The context of this is thought to be the murder of Usayr ibn Zarim and his thirty unarmed men by Muhammad's men after he "guaranteed" them safe passage (see Additional Notes below).

Bukhari (49:857) - "He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things, is not a liar." Lying is permitted when the end justifies the means.

Bukhari (84:64-65) - Speaking from a position of power at the time, Ali confirms that lying is permissible in order to deceive an "enemy."

Bukhari (52:271) - Recounts the murder of a poet, Ka'b bin al-Ashraf, at Muhammad's insistence. The men who volunteered for the assassination used dishonesty to gain Ka'b's trust, pretending that they had turned against Muhammad. This drew the victim out of his fortress, whereupon he was brutally slaughtered despite putting up a ferocious struggle for his life.

From Islamic Law:

Reliance of the Traveler (p. 746 - 8.2) - "Speaking is a means to achieve objectives. If a praiseworthy aim is attainable through both telling the truth and lying, it is unlawful to accomplish through lying because there is no need for it. When it is possible to achieve such an aim by lying but not by telling the truth, it is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible ( when the purpose of lying is to circumvent someone who is preventing one from doing something permissible), and obligatory to lie if the goal is obligatory... it is religiously precautionary in all cases to employ words that give a misleading impression...

"One should compare the bad consequences entailed by lying to those entailed by telling the truth, and if the consequences of telling the truth are more damaging, one is entitled to lie.

♦Here are some of the ploys, arguments, logical fallacies and diversionary tactics used by taqiyya tacticians:

[1] Taqiyya about taqiyya.

Muslims deny that taqiyya exists, or that it is used to deceive infidels. 'There is no such thing as Taqiya' (or 'Taqiyya is something I never heard of and I had to go and look it up')

[2] Playing the race card and guilt by association.

An accusation of racism is such a trump card that Jihadists will play it whenever they can. Despite Islam not being a race, any criticism of Islam immediately gets the knee-jerk retaliation of 'racism'.

For example; 'You are expressing the same views about Islam as racists, therefore you are a racist.' This is similar logic to to 'Communists believe two and two make four. You believe two and two make four. Therefore you are a Communist'.

[3] Godwin's Law

a special (and inevitable) version of guilt by association with racism used in online discussions, whereby the first person to invoke Hitler or the Nazis wins the argument. The 'logic' is something like: CRITICISM OF ISLAM = RACISM = NAZISM
Therefore, if you criticise Islam you are a Nazi.

[4] Circular reasoning

'The Koran says it is the word of God. So whatever it says must be true. Therefore it is true that the Koran is the word of God because it says so'

[5] The infidels' quotes from the Koran are always taken out of context.

For example 'Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them' is taken out of context, and really means 'Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them setting fire to your house' - or something similar.

[6] Infidels can't understand the original Arabic of the Koran.

So 'Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them' is actually a Medieval Arabic expression meaning 'Help old ladies across busy streets and remember to feed the birds in winter'.

[7] Tu Quoque (you also).

'We blow people up/ behead them but you do the same,' - Normally used in attempts to refute arguments that Islam is intrinsically violent. Often refers back to the Crusades, Inquisition etc. Also 'There are equally nasty bits in the Bible'.

Yes, there are violent episodes in the Bible, but the Bible is descriptive of battles and massacres long ago, whereas the Koran is prescriptive of battles and massacres yet to come.

[8] 'Abrahamic/monotheistic faith' false kin argument.

This scam usually take the form of 'Islam is just a further development of Christianity, a brother Abrahamic/ monotheist faith.'

Of course it isn't. Islam is a travesty and perversion of Christianity in many respects, and Jesus would probably have advised the pedophile Mohammed to tie a millstone round his neck and jump into the sea. (Mark 9:42). In Islam stoning of women is still a major spectator sport, whereas Jesus forbade it (John 8:7). Human sacrifice is an abomination in Judaism and Christianity, but is encouraged in Islam.

[9] Quoting abrogated verses from the Koran in order to appear moderate.

A favorite one is 'Let there be no compulsion in religion'. This verse and many like it are actually null and void and disregarded by all Muslims (though not by gullible infidels). They are peaceful Meccan verses which are competely cancelled by later and much more violent Medinan verses.

[10] 'You owe us a debt of gratitude because Islam is the basis of Western civilisation'.

This sort of statement is usually backed up by revisionist arguments that Muslims invented everything and were responsible for the Renaissance (Sheikh Speare was a Muslim playwright etc).
In some ways this is a rather pathetic quest for significance.

Muslim culture has been moribund for the past 600 years, whereas the West has forged ahead. Muslims now want a stake in the success story by claiming they were somehow responsible for the West's development.

[11] 'A third of the world's population believe in Islam, so it deserves respect.'

- But not so long ago a third of the world's population believed the earth was flat. Numbers don't mean anything, especially when the Islamic population is the most backward and illiterate on earth.

Muslims are very keen on 'respect', but someone should tell them that respect needs to be earned.

[12] 'We are victims of Islamophobia'.

Muslims are always playing the victim, if not of racism then of the even more heinous thought-crime of ISLAMOPHOBIA. Of course there is no such thing as Islamophobia, since a phobia is an irrational fear, whereas fear of Islam as a clear and present danger is a totally rational reaction from any infidel.
