And Now For Something Completely Different

Imagine if Captain Nemo, of Jules Verne fame, had built his own R&D lab. Enjoy.

Here is a Da Vinci motif flying machine by this same genius.

For those who are uninitiated into Steampunk culture, please view the following video animation:

The video details, "The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello ". It is a decent, if sometimes obscure portrayal of what a supremely reigning Victorian era might have brought our world.

Love it. Powered by giant shrimp. When they fail, we eat well.

Thanks Zenster, in lieu of what has happened today in Boston, a nice break and interesting!

Even though we all know that the steam age could not have brought humanity such benisons, it's still a bit of fun to imagine otherwise.

For those who are more keenly interested in a really well-crafted steampunk tale, please consider reading author Jay Lake's "Mainspring". It is the first book in a trilogy that imagines our solar system and universe as a gigantic orrery.

Here is a link to a splendid visual called, "The Kepler Orrery". It is an animation that depicts new solar systems found by the Kepler Spacecraft. There are 885 planet candidates in 361 systems.
