Several folks I know through blogging, life, the internet have very recently lost a loved one or have have a loved one, family, wife, husband, diagnosed with a very terminal illness with little hope of continuing on in this world.
Kenny over at Knuckledraggin My Life Away just lost his Pops and this was posted in the comments.
So sorry for your loss, Wirecutter and if you see this I hope it is all right to share here.
Our time is here is indeed short and I just felt that this was appropriate to share here.
Death Is Nothing At All
************************
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

That's a lovely poem. I have often pictured death just that way, as "just around the corner" or in another room. Thanks for the inspiration.
"Yo sister" - it's going on two years. Wherever you are, I/we still find it hard to talk about you. Six of us still here - it's not the same. None of us ever put bright red kiss marks on banana and re-wrapped and put in hubbies lunchbox. None of us ever left the golf cart running, with pups sitting in seat and turned our back for only a moment and when glanced around saw said golf cart rolling quickly into the river pups in tow. None of us ever mooned the dozen or so nephews/nieces one stormy night when they camped out in tents down by the river. None of the rest of us made the others laughe till we about p**d in our pants. None of us ever said "yo sis!" or "yo bro" about a dozen times a day on e-mail. You say your just around the corner. I saw one of your favorites - a beautiful butterfly yesterday - perhaps.....
All I know is - we still miss you - terribly. http://operationyoutubeislamistsmackdown.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/another-star-in-the-sky-tonight/
I always remember someone saying to me that death itself is not a medical emergency, it's a natural event.
Which is an interesting way to put it. They were right enough, though.
