British MPs have joined forces to fight for free speech in the UK, which is currently threatened by Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986. Under that legislation it is an offence to use insulting words within hearing range of someone likely to be caused harrassment, alarm or distress. That's pretty vague, and pretty broad-ranging, should a zealous bobbie fancy running someone in.
One of the MPs involved, Edward Leigh, has previously taken part in a debate on the persecution of Christians at Westminster Hall, one of the few MPs to do so. Sources:Daily Mail, Gates of Vienna.
