Lincoln, FDR, The New Deal

Obama has had the audacity to compare himself to Lincoln and FDR. What an insult to both of these former POTUS. While Lincoln stands alone in what he accomplished and the times during those accomplishments, Obama is not even worthy of tying Lincoln's shoes. What has the teleprompter junkie accomplished? Nothing, except sinking this country into massive debt that will span many generations and passing a 'healthcare bill' that will cost us jobs and money. Not to mention Obama's appeasement of Islam and Muslims at a high cost to our security and national interests.

FDR is well known for the 'New Deal' and rightfully so. While far from being an ideal plan, it was immensely popular in its time. It established individual rights to a job, a home, selling agricultural products at a fair price so one could actually keep the farm, medical care and many other rights that individuals had not really had before the New Deal was passed. There is a big difference between the liberal progressives of today and the 1920's and 1930's. This is what makes Obama's 'New New Deal' so dangerous to our freedom and unique character that has set the United States above, beyond all other countries and governments that have existed in the past or present.

The following linked article is from Imprimis, which is published by Hillsdale College. Hillsdale is an outstanding college and institution. It is one of the few schools that does not depend on government sponsored or controlled financial aid or money. It is one school I am happy to support. The article is a bit long so you will have to read it at: The New New Deal By Charles Kesler
Charles R. Kesler is the Dengler-Dykema Distinguished Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College and editor of the Claremont Review of Books. His articles on contemporary politics have appeared in several newspapers and journals, including the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times, National Review, and the Weekly Standard. He is editor of the Signet Classic edition of The Federalist Papers, editor of and a contributor to Saving the Revolution: The Federalist Papers and the American Founding, and co-editor, with William F. Buckley, Jr., of Keeping the Tablets: Modern American Conservative Thought.
The following is adapted from a lecture delivered at Hillsdale College on February 1, 2010, during a four-day conference on “The New Deal,” co-sponsored by the Center for Constructive Alternatives and the Ludwig von Mises Lecture Series.
