Just a quick update on posts.

There will be limited posting as our daughter is graduating from High School today. Have been extremely busy helping out with that and posts will resume late tonight or over the weekend. We have company from out of town. This happens once in our lifetime and we are making this really special for our daughter who has been a honors student all 4 years with a near perfect GPA of 3.985. She already has close to one year of college courses completed. Thanks for understanding!

Thanks Findalis,
We are fortunate she is done with
H.S. here. The district and school
board have done a terrible job
managing the district. So bad,
we have enrolled our son
into a Charter, proficiency school so he is spared some of the poor H.S. stuff starting this fall. Really sad, the school board runs in total fear
of the unions.

They want all their pie, cake
and ice cream and most of the
teachers don't seem to care about
giving kids a good education.
Much like much of the country's
schools these days.

Congratulations! I myself graduated high school four years, so I remember how it feels. You mentioned you have your son enrolled in a charter school. I don't know if you are from AZ, but everything you said in your comment is true in my school district. People are jumping ship by the hundreds each year to enroll in various charters.

Giggle T,
It is the same here. Our
school district just 12
years ah=go was in the top
50 in the entire nation.
Now it is in tatters. Our son
is enrolled in what is called
a 'Proficiency Academy.' Many
make the error that is like a
school for idiots and problem
kids. Nothing could be farther
from the truth. Sure, there are
some bad kids here too but most
are there for the same reasons
we placed our son there. Smaller
classes and much more one on one
teaching and guidance. Plus our
son gets to select course that
of interest to him. Not just the
run of the mill electives and
core classes.

Here the school district fought
us all the way as they did not
want to see that$9,000 going to
a school that is not 'mainstream
and typical.

They do not care about
him or his education, it
is all about money and the unions.
We threatened the school district
with our attorney and a call to
Jay Sekalow if you know who he is.
This is happening all of the
USA as people are sick of supporting a broken
school system.

Well, we have problems in our district with the illegal immigrants and language issues.

You folks are actually lucky. My government teacher in high school was the former head of the local teacher's union.

One of our best friends is on the school board. Life long teacher,
progressively retarded liberal.
This person has
constantly caved into
the union demands since
we have lived here.

We DO NOT discuss politics,
school issues or religion.
He has argued with me and lost
control of emotions every time.
We have our hands full with
illegals here. Oregon and
Portland are sanctuary state
and city. Bleh!
