Follow up to Facebook post on account deletions. From SIOA

Here is the latest and this is good news. BUT as mentioned, no explanation why this happened in the first place. I still stand by what I said and what SIOA said when this originally happened.

Facebook reinstates accounts of SIOA/SIOE





Followup to Facebook Controversy



This evening without apology or explanation the Facebook accounts of SIOE/SIOA organizers were reinstated. As no explanation for the deletion of the accounts nor for their reinstatements has been provided by Facebook one can only speculate as to what has occurred and why. Yesterday’s post was forwarded and taken up by numerous websites, and on Twitter in the United States and in Europe.

As it is not clear why Facebook removed the accounts in the first place nor why they were reinstated (due to the great silence from Facebook), the pressure brought to bear against Facebook because of this situation may well have resulted in the return of these accounts.

Some Facebook users suggest that Facebook pays no attention to these controversies and that account deletions and reinstatements have an almost whimsical quality due to Facebook’s silence on such matters. Since this perspective is speculation in the same way that my “Facebook-bowed-to-pressure” argument is, I’ll stick with my interpretation.
