This is the first public indication that I have seen that he harbored any destructive thoughts. Abdulsalam Al-Zahrani has been charged with the second-degree murder of Binghamton University Professor--Richard Antoun.

Broome County's District Attorney says Al-Zahrani stabbed Antoun to death in the Science 1 building Friday.

The two knew each other through the anthropology graduate program.

Abdulsalam Al-Zahrani lived in a three bedroom apartment in downtown Binghamton.

His roommate says police searched his room for two to three hours.

"The police, they came, and when they were allowed to enter into his room, they took all his stuff," said Jules Sakho, Al-Zahrani's roomate.

His roommates say police also found a knife in a dumpster near the apartment.

But police do not have a motive at this time.

Al-Zahrani's roommates say he was dealing with a lot of problems. He expressed being worried about finishing his dissertation on time. He was also no longer on scholarship and didn't have a job.

I would think it was because of the whole dissertation being rejected. But I cannot confirm it, he had issues with his financials. I don't know what he had against that professor," said Luis Pena, a graduate student.

His roommates and neighbors also say his behavior was strange.

"He was all the time shouting in Arabic, shouting threats, insulting this country for no reason," said Sakho.

"He used to make a lot of noise, always at Dunkin Donuts next door to our apartment, and he used to shout a lot," said Kalpak Bahlearo, Al-Zahrani's neighbor.

"He told me there were students, who were spies for the government of Jordan that were harassing him," said Pena.

"Sometimes, for no reason, asking if I am afraid of death or not, " said Sakho.

"He says a comment like, 'I feel like just waking up and destroying the world'," said Pena.

Al-Zahrani was a Saudi Arabia national and Sakho says he was Muslim.

No kidding, a Saudi who was a Muslim? Wow.

But the D.A. believes the stabbing was not religiously motivated. Sakho says he thinks Al-Zahrani had psychological problems as well....
 
I think Islam causes psycological problems in people.

As we all know from the mainstream media coverage of the Rifqa case, a Muslim father would never -- never -- call for the death of one of his children for leaving Islam! Why, it would be absolutely unheard of! If only Lamine Yansané's father, El Hadj Aboubacar Yansané, could get Michael Kruse or Meredith Heagney to explain Islam to him!

MONTREAL -- In Lamine Yansané's hometown of Boké in Guinea, his father is a revered imam who sometimes leads Friday prayers. But after Mr. Yansané married a Catholic woman and abandoned Islam for Christianity, his father disowned him, and Friday prayers have featured a call for his death, the Federal Court heard yesterday.

Mr. Yansané, who has been denied refugee status, is seeking a last-ditch reprieve on the grounds that he faces certain harm if he is deported from Canada. "If you return him to his country, he is going to die," Mr. Yansané's lawyer, Stewart Istvanffy, told the court. He called his client "a victim of radical Islam, who is threatened by the imam of his town, his own father."

Mr. Yansané, 37, arrived in Canada from Guinea in the fall of 2005. He told the Immigration and Refugee Board that he fled the West African nation after his father and uncle tracked him down in the country's capital of Conakry, confronted him about his church attendance and threatened him as a traitor to Islam. His wife and three children remain in Guinea.

The board member who heard his case called his testimony "devoid of credibility." She did not believe that a family of religious fanatics would have permitted his marriage to a Christian in the first place. (Mr. Yansané said he was allowed to marry on the condition he convert his wife to Islam, a project he abandoned.) And she found it far-fetched that his family would tolerate the couple's presence in Boké for the 10 years they lived there before moving to Conakry.

A subsequent review by an Immigration Department officer concluded Mr. Yansané would not be at risk if he were sent home, and the officer dismissed additional evidence gathered by Mr. Istvanffy.

That evidence included a report from a Conakry lawyer, hired by Mr. Istvanffy to investigate the situation in Conakry. The lawyer quoted another Boké imam who was persuaded Mr. Yansané's father would follow through on the threat. The father considers Mr. Yansané's actions "a true humiliation and an affront to his honour," the lawyer reported, adding that "he never stops saying he will seek vengeance against Lamine."

A letter from a priest in Boké was similarly dire, describing Mr. Yansané's father as "one of the fundamentalists who do not accept their children changing religion: They are born, live and die Muslims."

In June 2008, the National Post reached the father, El Hadj Aboubacar Yansané, in Boké and he warned his son to stay away: "He knows what will happen. It would be dangerous for him to come back to Boké," he said.

Following that interview, the imam repeated his threats during Friday prayers, according to a letter filed with the court. The handwritten letter to Mr. Yansané from his friend Mamady Chérif in Boké reported that his father had announced during Friday prayers that he had learned his son was in Canada. Mr. Chérif said Mr. Yansané, Sr., called on the faithful to contact their countrymen living in Canada to inform them of the fatwa he had issued against his son....

Whoops, sorry -- this isn't backlash against the poor, innocent Muslims being terrorized and victimized by the thousands after the Fort Hood Nothing-To-Do-With-Islam attack. "Man arrested for 'anti-Christian' mall disturbance: Kiosk employee allegedly tore a crucifix from someone's neck," by Emily West for the Danville Express, November 10 (thanks to Bob):

Police arrested 22-year-old Abdul Walid Hamid of Hayward on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 4, after he reportedly tore a crucifix from a person's neck and scared others at Stoneridge Shopping Center.

Hamid, an employee at a mall kiosk near Starbucks, has been charged with battery, terrorist threats and grand theft.

According to reports, Hamid was yelling "Allah is power" and "Islam is great" while holding a pen in a fist over his head. Witnesses said he shouted anti-Christian comments, said police.

Lt. Mike Elerick of the Pleasanton Police Department said the man was not provoked and didn't threaten violence, but he committed robbery when he grabbed and broke a crucifix off someone's neck.

Coworkers told police that Hamid's actions were out of the ordinary and that he had worked at the kiosk for years.

You mean, he didn't do this daily? What a relief!

Police also said they weren't aware of a prior criminal history for the man.

"We had multiple people calling 911," Elerick said. "One female was crouching down and hiding from him. He definitely scared quite a few people."...

Through an interpreter, Hamid requested a public defender and was scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Thursday where he is expected to enter a plea.


Through an interpreter? He worked at the mall and didn't speak English?

Instead, brass are actively recruiting Muslim soldiers — whose ranks have swelled to more than 15,000 — and catering to their faith by erecting mosques even at Marine headquarters in Quantico, Va. More, they're hiring Muslim chaplains endorsed by radical Islamic front groups, who convert and radicalize soldiers.



In the wake of the worst domestic military-base massacre in U.S. history, this is an outrage to say the least. And the PC blinders explain how Fort Hood commanders could have failed so horrifically in protecting their force from the internal threat there.



The terrorist suspect, an Islamic fanatic, penetrated deep into the Army's officer corps before gunning down, execution-style, more than 40 of his fellow soldiers. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly killed 13 at the Texas post, which boasts some 40 Muslims.



Witnesses say he shouted "Allahu Akbar" — Allah is great! — before opening fire in a crowded building where troops were sitting ducks, waiting to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan, both wars that Hasan angrily opposed. "Muslims should stand up and fight the aggressor," he reportedly said earlier this year, referring to the U.S. — the country he swore to protect.



During the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, another devout Muslim in the Army had a similar conflict. Sgt. Hasan Akbar also resorted to violence, fragging 17 fellow soldiers, killing two. Why? He opposed the killing of fellow Muslims. "You guys are coming into our countries, and you're going to rape our women and kill our children," he was overheard by soldiers who survived the grenade attack as saying.



Clearly, his loyalties lay elsewhere. And he's hardly alone:



• Navy Signalman Hassan Abujihaad last year was convicted of tipping off al-Qaida to battle group movements in the Persian Gulf, including disclosing classified documents detailing the group's vulnerability to terror attack.



• Army reservist Jeffrey Battle in 2003 pleaded guilty to conspiring to wage war against the U.S., confessing he enlisted "to receive military training to use against America."



• Army reservist Semi Osman in 2002 was arrested for providing material support to al-Qaida and pleaded guilty to weapons charges after agreeing to testify against other terror suspects.



• Marine Abdul Raheem al-Arshad Ali trained at a suspected al-Qaida camp and was charged with selling a semi-automatic handgun to Osman.



• Army Sgt. Ali Mohamed trained Green Berets at Fort Bragg's elite special warfare school before stealing military secrets for al-Qaida and helping plan bombings at three U.S. embassies in 1998.



• Army Spec. Ryan Anderson in 2004 was convicted of leaking military intelligence to al-Qaida terrorists, including sensitive information about the vulnerabilities of armored Humvees.



• Army sniper John Muhammad was put on death row after fatally shooting 10 in the nation's capital a year after 9/11.



While good and decent Muslim soldiers have served admirably, the list of those who have put their allegiance to Islam above country is long, and this is by no means an exhaustive accounting.



The Pentagon must do a better job of vetting such recruits. And it must do a better job of force protection — starting with beefing up its counterspying operations — before more intelligence is compromised and more soldiers are lost.
