Playing the blues

It's easy nowadays to look around at some of the things that are happening in the world and see it as a place of darkness and although there is something to that, it's important to remember the good things, the very good things, that come our way as well. I was thinking about those poor people who were out doing their Christmas shopping, and five minutes later their world had turned to dust.  It can happen to any of us. But if you start to get the blues about all of this, you can always strap on your mp3 player, and listen to the blues! In one of the most brilliant and fruitful collaborations between cultures ever, the blues made its way to England, and we've had many years of fantastic music as a result of that - here is a recent clip of two ageing (and ageing rather well) English gentlemen, Geoffrey Arnold Beck and Eric Patrick Clapton, playing an old blues song at Ronnie Scott's in London just last year.  Put on your headphones, turn up the volume and spend a few minutes listening to what the Brits and the Americans can do when they put their heads together - this is real multiculturalism!
